The Food ~ Coco Plum Island Resort ~ Belize

When you think of an all-inclusive resort, typically you don't really expect excellence in the food department. Most all-inclusives provide a ridiculous amount of food that is just so-so - but who really wants a lot of not-so-great food. At Coco Plum, this stigma about all-inclusive food is definitely not the case. Coco Plum's food is a wonderful combination of local flavors and comfort classics. Of the 11 nights we were there, we did not have a bad meal.

Did Someone Say Bar Snacks??

Ok, so every meal we had at Coco Plum was delicious and we loved them all. But our favorite foods at Coco Plum would have to be the Bar Snacks! In between lunch and dinner, they bring out bar snacks for people hanging out around the bar area. It was always the perfect time to get a drink and a quick snack before heading to your room to freshen up for dinner. They did tostadas as bar snacks a few times and we were obsessed. Throw some of the Marie Sharp's hot sauce on those and it just doesn't get much better than that. When we got home, "Bar Snacks" became a regular dinner recipe of ours. To us, Bar Snacks means a crispy tostada shell, with a layer of refried black beans, topped with chicken or fish, corn, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime, shredded cheese, and of course Marie Sharp's hot sauce. We bought 6 bottles of her hot sauces in Belize - 3 for us and 3 as gifts for family. Yeah, our family didn't end up getting their bottles because we're selfishly hoarding them. Now I'm hungry for Bar Snacks...

Some Tips & A Few Things To Note...

1. Coco Plum does have specific meal times - it's really not a big deal though. The times are pretty standard for most people's typical hunger schedule. Plus, the gap times between the meals is pretty short - so you shouldn't even have time to get hangry at anyone. Don't worry about the portion sizes either, they've got you covered!

2. If you're feeling particularly lazy / hungover one day, you can go to the restaurant during breakfast and ask if you can have breakfast delivered in bed!

3. If there's something you want - just ask. At Coco Plum, the staff really goes above and beyond to make sure that you're taken care of and happy with your stay. My husband really likes coconut water and drinks it almost every day, but we really did not want to pack a case of it in our luggage. So before we arrived, I asked if it would be possible for them to have some on hand for him and low and behold, when we arrived they had a case specifically for Dan.

4. If you're lounging under one of the palapas on the pier and lunch time comes around, the servers will usually stop by and see if you'd like to have lunch brought to you. It's so great because you get to just keep lounging the day away in the sunshine and you also get a romantic private lunch on the pier. The days we spent under the palapas at Coco Plum are probably some of our favorite memories from our Honeymoon. Just thinking about it makes me feel relaxed and warmed by the Belizean sun...
