I'm Just a Nerd Trying to See The World One Adventure at a Time...

Scalpay

Scalpay

We had planned on camping somewhere near Luskentyre Beach but it was super windy, cold & rainy. So at the last minute we decided to skip the tent for the night, and upgrade to a B&B. Obviously we didn’t have any reservations or even know of a place to stay. So off to Google we went, and we stumbled upon Hirta House B&B. It looked warm & cozy and they had a room available so we booked it. A very nice couple own & operate the B&B with 3 guest rooms with en-suites.

Hirta House is an adorable quintessential Scottish B&B. Very kind, gracious, and helpful hosts. Our room was adorable with a beautiful view. After several cold, rainy days and nights in a tent, a hot shower & a nice, warm bed were welcome luxuries.

It was getting late so we didn’t get to explore the island that much but they do have a beautiful lighthouse that is supposed to be a really nice hike.

The Isle of Scalpay felt like a little untouched piece of Scotland.

We asked the host if they had recommendations for a good place to get dinner nearby and they said the North Harbor Bistro is right down the street & has excellent food.

Little did we know that we were about to experience one of the best meals of our lives.
