I'm Just a Nerd Trying to See The World One Adventure at a Time...

Kilt Rock

Kilt Rock

Just east of the Quiraing, on the coast, is Kilt Rock. It’s a sea cliff that looks like a kilt. But it’s also stunning waterfalls and incredibly dramatic coastline. It makes for a perfect stopping point after driving through The Quiraing, or even after The Old Man of Storr.

There’s a very small parking lot and it can get crowded. But there really isn’t much exploring to do here, so you can just wait for people to clear out and then move your way up front. It’s a fast stop since it’s just the overlooks on both sides. If you get there and it’s too crowded, just wait a few minutes and some people will start to leave.

The views on each side of the lookout are equally awe inspiring. It’s named kilt rock and that tends to be the focal point, but Mealt Falls and the basalt columns lining the coastline make this stop a memorable one. When the sun is shining, the colors of the bright blue water and the greenery lining the shore just come to life. It’s so incredibly beautiful, you just can’t believe your eyes. It was definitely a “pinch me” kind of moment for me.

Adventure Always.
