The Oyster Shed
We came to the Oyster Shed because of a recommendation from a local that we encountered somewhere on Skye - I cannot remember who it was exactly but I wish I could send them a thank you card.
The Oyster Shed is one of those secret, hidden gem, one of a kind, super special kind of places.
My absolute favorite places to find when we’re traveling.
It’s very casual & BYOB. It’s right up the street from the Talisker Distillery, so it’s the perfect stop for a quick & delicious lunch after a distillery tour & tasting.
They sell all kinds of fresh seafood including oysters, crab, scallops, mussels, salmon, and lobster. The freshness & quality of the seafood are outstanding and you can’t beat the price. Oysters are £1 each and a 1/2 lb grilled lobster with chips is £14.
The Oyster Shed was one of the best meals we had on our UK road-trip and also one of the most memorable.
The owner was behind the counter and gave us advice and recommendations on what to try and he told us about his oyster farm that the oysters are harvested from. He was so welcoming & kind and was excited to meet everyone that came through the huge double doors.
Once you get your food, you can grab a barrel inside or there are more barrels & tables outside with the most fantastic views. The Oyster Shed is just such a cool & unique experience and also the highest quality seafood while still being an inexpensive place for lunch. We would go back to Skye just to have lunch here again - it’s that good.
Adventure Always.
